This project focused on the construction, rehabilitation, and upgrading of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) facilities within Redemption Hospital, one of the largest public referral hospitals in Monrovia. The intervention was crucial in improving healthcare delivery through access to safe water, improved sanitation, and hygienic infrastructure as per the approved drawings and Bill of Quantities (BOQ).

How We Solve This Project
Our approach to solving this project was systematic and results-driven, ensuring that the hospital received sustainable and functional WASH infrastructure.
Assessment & Design:
Conducted a baseline assessment of existing facilities.
Reviewed architectural drawings and BOQ for technical alignment.
Consulted hospital administrators and staff for priority needs.
Construction & Rehabilitation:
Built modernized toilets and handwashing stations for patients, staff, and visitors.
Rehabilitated existing water supply lines to ensure 24/7 availability of safe water.
Installed an efficient drainage system to prevent flooding and contamination.
Ensured accessibility for people with disabilities.
Quality Assurance & Monitoring:
Regular supervision and inspections during construction.
Testing water systems for functionality and safety.
Continuous reporting to UNICEF Liberia and the hospital management.
Sustainability Measures:
Trained hospital maintenance staff in WASH facility upkeep.
Provided operational manuals for facility management.
Encouraged hospital leadership to allocate part of its operational budget for WASH maintenance.

Mitigation Strategy
Installation of a water storage tank with booster pumps to ensure 24-hour water availability.
Demolished non-functional units and constructed new gender-segregated, disability-friendly toilets with handwashing facilities.
